STAND FAST IN THE LORD

     It is written:
Mt 12:25–…EVERY CITY OR HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF SHALL NOT STAND.

Ro 14:4–WHO ART THOU THAT JUDGEST ANOTHER MAN’S SERVANT? TO HIS OWN MASTER HE STANDETH OR FALLETH. YEA, HE SHALL BE HOLDEN UP: FOR GOD IS ABLE TO MAKE HIM STAND.

1 Cor 15:1–2–MOREOVER, BRETHREN, I DECLARE UNTO YOU THE GOSPEL WHICH I PREACHED UNTO YOU, WHICH ALSO YE HAVE RECEIVED, AND WHEREIN YE STAND; BY WHICH ALSO YE ARE SAVED, IF YE KEEP IN MEMORY WHAT I PREACHED UNTO YOU, UNLESS YE HAVE BELIEVED IN VAIN.

1 Cor 16:13–14–WATCH YE, STAND FAST IN THE FAITH, QUIT YOU LIKE MEN, BE STRONG. LET ALL YOUR THINGS BE DONE WITH CHARITY (or love).

2 Cor 1:24–NOT FOR THAT WE HAVE DOMINION OVER YOUR FAITH, BUT ARE HELPERS OF YOUR JOY: FOR BY FAITH YE STAND.

Gal 5:1–STAND FAST THEREFORE IN THE LIBERTY WHEREWITH CHRIST HATH MADE US FREE, AND BE NOT ENTANGLED AGAIN WITH THE YOKE OF BONDAGE.

Gal 5:16–18–THIS I SAY THEN, WALK IN THE SPIRIT, AND YE SHALL NOT FULFIL THE LUST OF THE FLESH. FOR THE FLESH LUSTETH AGAINST THE SPIRIT, AND THE SPIRIT AGAINST THE FLESH: AND THESE ARE CONTRARY THE ONE TO THE OTHER: SO THAT YE CANNOT DO THE THINGS THAT YE WOULD. BUT IF YE BE LED OF THE SPIRIT, YE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW.

Satan is an expert at entangling you in the things of this world and the affairs of this life. Satan is masterful in his use of deception to get you to view things from a worldly perspective and not from God’s perspective.

When you do things by your own emotions or personal desires, you are usually not following God, or denying yourself, or walking in the Spirit as you are commanded to do by His Word.

Jesus yielded His life completely to God the Father. Jesus said, I can of mine own self do nothing–Jn 5:30. I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things–Jn 8:28. …as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do–Jn 14:31. The Bible says you are to follow Jesus. He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked–1 Jn 2:6. God wants you to surrender control of your life completely to Him. Will you do it?

If you will not let Jesus reign over you now, what makes you think you would do so in heaven? He might tell you in heaven to go and do this or that, but you might make the same excuse then as you do now. God wants you to submit your life to Him. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s–1 Cor 6:20. He gives you the Word of God and His Holy Spirit to guide you in every aspect of your life:
     what you say,
     what you do,
     where you go,
     what you eat,
     even how much you eat,
     even your finances,
     even your thoughts,
     even your attitude,
     even what you own,
     and what you sell, and
     even who you fellowship with.

There are many Scriptures in the Bible that cover these subjects, thus you can never make the excuse that you didn’t know these things. Most people will not let Jesus rule over them. They will not allow Jesus (God’s Word) to be the Lord of their life. If Jesus is not your Lord, neither is He your Savior–ref Lk 19:27.

Have you not read, you are to deny yourself and follow Jesus? Perhaps this is the problem. You want to give Jesus only part of your life. The Word is to rule over you. You should be a living example of God’s Word and of Jesus–ref Jn 1:12. You are to be conformed to Jesus Himself–ref Ro 8:29.

Is your heart full of enthusiasm for God’s work? Do you have a burden for souls? Jesus gave His life for men’s souls, including yours. Are you willing to give your life for people’s souls and for Him?

Have you repented of selfishness and self–centeredness?

Does Jesus really rule over you? Or do you rule over yourself and serve God only at your convenience? What kind of attitude do you have?

Are you unwilling to give your life totally to Jesus through repentance, because you do not want to deny yourself?

Consider correction. We are all to be as a little child toward receiving and being corrected. We are to be soft toward correction from God’s Word and toward whomever God has put over us to watch for our soul.

Col 4:12–EPAPHRAS, WHO IS ONE OF YOU, A SERVANT OF CHRIST, SALUTETH YOU, ALWAYS LABOURING FERVENTLY FOR YOU IN PRAYERS, THAT YE MAY STAND PERFECT AND COMPLETE IN ALL THE WILL OF GOD.

Do you spend more time on the Internet, watching TV, using hand–held devices, and reading books or magazines than you do reading, studying and meditating on God’s Word?

You are suppose to belong to Christ, if you have repented, not to yourself. Ye are not your own–1 Cor 6:19; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s–Ro 14:8.

You are to have the mind of Christ–ref 1 Cor 2:16.

1 Thes 3:7–8–THEREFORE, BRETHREN, WE WERE COMFORTED OVER YOU IN ALL OUR AFFLICTION AND DISTRESS BY YOUR FAITH: FOR NOW WE LIVE, IF YE STAND FAST IN THE LORD.

2 Th 2:15–THEREFORE, BRETHREN, STAND FAST, AND HOLD THE TRADITIONS WHICH YE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT, WHETHER BY WORD, OR OUR EPISTLE.

This generation turns away their ears from the truth…unto fables–ref 2 Tim 4:4.
     They resist the truth–ref 2 Tim 3:8.
They suppress the truth–ref Ro 1:18 NIV.
They lie against the truth–ref Ja 3:14.
They bring the way of truth into disrepute–ref 2 Pe 2:2 NIV.

We should walk in truth–ref 3 Jn 4.
We should love the truth and peace–ref Zech 8:19.
Gal 5:22–24–BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS LOVE, JOY, PEACE, LONGSUFFERING, GENTLENESS, GOODNESS, FAITH, MEEKNESS, TEMPERANCE: AGAINST SUCH THERE IS NO LAW. AND THEY THAT ARE CHRIST’S HAVE CRUCIFIED THE FLESH WITH THE AFFECTIONS AND LUSTS.

Eph 6:11–PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO STAND AGAINST THE WILES OF THE DEVIL.

It is written: WHOSOEVER WAS NOT FOUND WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE WAS CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.
